The EOCT is coming!

The Physical Science EOCT (End Of Course Test) is scheduled for Thursday, April 29th. Remember – it is 15% of your total grade this semester and covers both semesters!

Mrs. Mathiak (a teacher here at Milton) was nice enough to make and share a review for you! Put it on your iPod/iPhone/iPad/Blackberry/Palm/Android for convenient studying! (or just print the thing)

Just click here! — PhysicalScience_EOCT_Review_Semesters1and2.pdf (just be sure to thank Mrs. Mathiak when you see her!)

Got Android?

Yes! I have an App for that!

If you have an Android phone, you can download an app for my class now! It’s the same content as my webpage (blogposts, calendars, links, etc), but it puts everything in one handy spot. (Besides, it was fun to make.)

Lanham 411 for Android | Open on handset

iPhone/iPod Touch App should be in App Store in 2-3 weeks!

Note: I used a company that makes an app for you for a small fee. Unfortunately there are claims that spammers are taking advantage of this. Programmers on the Android Marketplace forums claim that most of the apps by this company are spam. I couldn’t find any. These unhappy programmers are now starting a campaign to rate down and/or leave negative comments for any app made by this company without bothering to read the description.  It’s legit. It’s my stuff. It’ll help. It’s not required. I’m open for suggestions!

Get Organized

I didn’t get very many people turn in last night’s homework! There is still hope though – the day isn’t over yet.

Can’t stay organized? Are papers falling out of your book? Do you know where your homework is? Do you know what you’re doing in each class today? Tomorrow?

Staying organized is a Life Skill – not just science class! As of now, there are over 20 million hits when you use Google to search “get organzied in school“!

Use your Calendar: I hand out a printed calendar for each unit. (it’s also tacked up on the bulletin board and online) This is something that you should use, not just stick in your notebook. Whether you write stuff all over it or transfer the information to something else, it really doesn’t matter. Personal organization can take as much (or as little) effort as you are comfortable with doing. Doing anything is far better than nothing.

Read on for some tips and tricks at staying organized!

the PSAT is coming!

From today’s announcements:

Students – the PSAT is Wednesday, October 14, for all freshmen, sophomores, and juniors.  The College Board has helpful hints and practice tests – http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/psat/about/bulletin.html .  (This link is posted on all the administrative/counseling offices and Em2).  We also have official student guides available in suite 1380 for any student who would like to pick one up!

Got Calculator?

If you don’t have a calculator for class yet, I found an ad for a scientific calculator at Milton SuperTarget for $9!

I’m not saying you have to buy THIS one – you might find a cheaper one similar to it somewhere else. You will need one that can do squares & square roots. Just remember – NO GRAPHING CALCULATORS during tests & quizzes. (and no sharing too)

Easier Calendar

If you’ve accessed the classroom calendar online before & didn’t like it, try it now!

It should be easier to use.
